Need Turkish Rest. For Friday

s
Stuartmc910 Jun 24, 2010 07:34 AM

Nephew and his wife are in town from CO. and would like Turkish food. I know of several places, but would welcome a suggestion from the CHs. Price should be about $40 pp with one drink. Prefer east side, but not lower east side.

TIA

I prefer Ali Baba but you'll do well at Turkish Kitchen too.

We, six of us, had dinner at Turkish Restaurant Friday evening. Thanks to all who recommended it. It was EXCELLENT. Drinks, food, service , ambiance and we could talk!!

We will be going back again.

Beyoglu on 3rd Ave near 81st is a solid second in case it's more convenient. Excellent meze and very decent kebab and fish mains. Consistent, attractive and always lively (tends to be a bit crowded and loud).

I love Beyoglu...the room, the staff and the food.
Especially their vegetarian mezze platter along with that delicious round puffy bread.

Thanks to all. We settled on Turkish Kitchen as it's the nearest to where my nephew will be, The Morgan Library. Beyoglu sounds good also, save for the "loud" comment, as we do want to talk.

The noise level at Turkish Kitchen is conversation-friendly.

Turkish Kitchen, on 3rd, b/t 27th & 28th, has been one of our favorites for years. In celebration of their 20th anniversary, they are offering a 20% discount for lunch and dinner.
