Queens Dinner on the Way to Citi Field

I'm headed to tonight's Mets game and I can't pass up a rare chance to try some famed Queens cuisine. Any suggestions? I'd be up for any kind of food, I'm just mainly looking for something affordable that I'm not going to find in Manhattan or my home buro of the Bronx. I'm also taking my well behaved 7-month-old, so nothing too fancy or where people going to freak out if they see a small child. It doesn't have to be near Citi Field, just somewhere between there and Manhattan not too far of the #7 train. I've been to Sripraphai and Donovan's Pub in Woodside, but that's about it. Thanks!

  1. This place is right off the 74th Street 7 Train Station.
I enjoy their lengua (beef tongue) tacos.

    1. If you like Mexican, I second the Taqueria Coatzingo recommendation. Some people don't find it authentic enough, but I still love the Jackson Diner as a good place to eat where kids are no problem.

Closer to Citi Field you have Joe's Shanghai (followed by bubble tea at Sago) in Flushing, Southern Spice (Indian, also Flushing), Tortilleria Nixtamal (small Mexican place in Corona), or Pio Pio (the best Peruvian chicken).

bronx got some good mexican, I'd try for Thai or Filipino in Woodside (both should be welcome for kids). maybe Thailand Center Point as an alternative to Sripraphai and Ihawan for filipino BBQ or, one of the new turo-turo places for a quick meal, e.g. Fiesta Grill.

        1. Thanks everybody. We had so many good ideas to pick from. We were craving Indian, so we hit Jackson Diner and it was great. I plan on stashing this list away for the next time I venture out to Queens.
