European toaster with inner basket?

missbuilding Jun 23, 2010 06:36 PM

On a recent Italian show on the Cooking Channel, I saw a guy use his "European" style toaster. Basically it's a normal toaster but has a little basket that fits in the place where you put the bread. This allows the user to put all different kinds and sizes of bread in the toaster without having to fish the product out with a fork.

I really, really want one of these! But, I've looked all over and I can't find anything like it. Any suggestions?

Don't tk this is what you are looking for but just fyi: http://www.gearlive.com/news/article/q208-rotary-basket-toaster/.

Also, someone has a patent out for an idea like that: http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20090.... Not sure if it led to an actual product.

It sure would be handy to have a single-slice basket that you can pull the whole piece out so you don't lose any little bits. This always happens when I toast a piece of pound cake.

When I was at a small inn in Belgium I could swear that the toast tasted like it had been toasted over a gas stove... it was very good. Maybe a stove-top pyramid toaster like this:
