Great Lunch In Ogunquit,Perkins Cove

  • e

Just had 2 very good lunches on Monday and Tuesday at Jackie Two's at Perkins cove in Ogunquit. For one thing its hard to beat the view, You sit right on the oceans edge, or as close as you can get to it at any Restaurant around. Had the burger the first day and it was great. cooked just like I asked for it. My wife had the Salmon rollup.which was very good. The second day I had the chicken club sandwich witch was also very good. On tuesday my wife had the fish and chips, which were very good and not all greasy. For a nice place to eat lunch I really liked it. Would go back again any time ,and probably will.

  1. If I live in Maine I would eat lobster every day. You are a lucky person. What are your 5 favorite casual and 5 favorite fine dining restaurants within 10 miles of Ogunquit. Arrows I know. What about On the Marsh in K.

For Casual We like Vinny's east coast bar and grill. For more upscale we like Varano's which is Italian and located in Wells. We also like Johnathan's in Ogunquit. And we like Angelina's in Ogunquit on Rt.1 Which we just ate at last week, And was very good. This is not as many as you asked about but should help you a little... Earle Ct.

Having read reviews for many years, I have the impression that Arrows is not a place that Earle would recommend (or go to??). We live in Ogunquit and have had anniversary dinners at Arrows for 10+ years. It is dinner only. very beautiful, romantic and expensive. They have their own garden and cure their salmon, etc. They have a reservation policy- they take a credit card and you have to cancel within a certain time period to not get charged. You need to wear a shirt with a collar and no jeans, shorts or sneakers. That said, it is a great restaurant but we reserve it for special occasions. They own MC Perkins Cove which has beautifuol ocean views and very good food and much more casual. LIttleman said he knows about Arrows.
Other great casual places : for lunch- Cove Cafe and Billy's and Billy's etc in Ogunquit. For lunch and dinner- MC Perkins Cove. For fine dining/ casual -MC, Gypsy Sweethearts, Prime , 98 Provence (Og) and Hurricane in Kennebunkport.

Note to Emilief, Your right I would not recommend Arrows for a casual dining experence. I know its excelent food,(so Ive been told. ) But with the dress code the fee for butter, And the prices in general it does not fit my version of a good casual meal. I agree with you on MC Perkins Cove. Had a very nice meal there last year. And buy the way Gypsy Sweethearts is out of Business . Also for a little more upscale dinner you could try 50 Shore Dr. Havent been in 2 years but was good then and they are still in business so I guess in this economy it means something. Earle

When I drove by Gypsy Sweethearts on Sunday, I noticed that they have a nice new sign, so I seriously doubt that they are out of business. Their website does say that they are closed on Mondays throughout the summer.

Gypsy Sweethearts is definitely NOT OUT OF BUSINESS. RE Arrows- there is no fee for butter. There is an optional butter service of several butters that you pay for. I don't know whay people care about this - they get perfectly nice butter without paying and you are in no way obligated to buy the fancy butters. Also, the dress code is pretty liberal- no shorts, tee shirts, and maybe jeans.
Never herd of 50 Shore Dr. Maybe you mean 98 Provence on Shore Rd? That is a very popular place and good but thefood is very rich for my taste.

I think he means Five-0 Shore Road. Also, we were at Arrows Sunday night and were never even offered their optional butter service.- maybe it was because it was one of their special themed dinners (Mediterranean), which was quite wonderful, by the way. The butter that was served with the bread was lovely and quite adequate.

      1. Its actually called "Jackies Too!"

My sincere apoligies to all who correct my mispoken moment about Gypsey Sweetharts clossing. and my spelling of Jackies Too. Thank you for the correction.. I thought that the place that is now occupied by Prime was Gypsey Sweetharts , My error. And thanks to Ogtmimi for the correction on 5-0 Shore Rd. And its none of my business but about what did you end up paying at Arrows the other day for dinner? Thanks again to all. Earle

          1. re: Earle

The Mediterranean themed dinner at Arrows was $58 per person for 5 courses. The link to their special event dinners will give you an idea of what's coming up in the fall.

        2. When we're in the area, our favorite place to have seafood is Billy's Chowder House up on Mile Rd. in Wells. Nicely prepared, and large portions. Even if we're up for a long weekend, we'll probably hit there twice.

when you have had enough of seafood, and want a great piece of "beef", Prime is the place, have been there many times and last Sat. had a 14oz, rib eye with a bone about 18"long (great for the dog) that was cooked to perfection (med-rare) with a choice of sauces and sides, it's on the road to Perkins Cove, drive slow you might miss it.
