Spot Prawns
Last night i had some spot prawns for the first time as part of a larger "Canoe plate" at, of course, Canoe. I enjoyed them and would like to try them again. So does anybody know of any other restaurant serving them? Or, even better, know of a fishmonger selling them? I'd like to get hold of some and try fixing them for myself and friends. All I know about them is that they're from BC and have a relatively short season. TIA.

If you are looking for live spotted prawns try any Asian super market or fish monger with tanks. The Asian retailers will be the least costly and the turn over is very high so the prawns will be fresh. Frozen prawns can be found all over the city just call and ask.

re: Teep
In the T&T outpost at Bathurst St. and Centre St., yesterday morning, there was one holding tank devoted to spot prawns. But the tank itself was almost empty, with one teensy little prawn cowering low down in a corner, apparently refusing to be snooped up for Charles Yu's dinner that evening. Maybe there was another delivery scheduled for later in the day. I didn't ask.

For a totally different taste experience, try them cooked in the current popular Chinese way of 'Wok frying them with minced garlic and Maggi sauce'. This dish is currently available in most Chinese restaurants including O Mei, Fantasy Eatery, Emperor, Maple Yip and Spring Villa. Except for Maple Yip, I've eaten the dish in the other four restauarnts. Standard for all four are very high. Fantasy eatery in Scarborough has the best deal ($1 per oz in units of 8 ozs). They also offer at least 8 different preparation methods.
