Newton-area Italian?

Hello,

I'm looking for a restaurant to host a private party (actually a rehearsal dinner) for 25 people, in a private room. The bride has requested Italian, which (to her) means red-sauce Italian. The preferred location is between Newton and Boston, as most guests will be staying in either Newton or Kenmore Square.

I've reached out to: Gran Gusto, Stellina, Amelia's (in Kendall), and quite a few North End places (Artu, Rabia's, Euno, Filippo, Lucia, Marco and G'Vanni's). Are there other places I have not yet thought of? I'd love something in the suburbs to make parking easier and keep the price down a bit.

Thanks!

paddy o's in West Newton has space I think and while an Irish pub, I think they do a good job with Italian food.

I think Paddy O's food is fairly subpar compared to the other options being discussed here. Just MHO, of course!

stellina's might be another option (watertown, parking lot in back).

One option is to rent a room somewhere and have it catered. There are a couple of places in Waltham -- Dominic's is one; I think there's another on River Street -- that could cater a good red sauce Italian event. I'm sure there are places in Nonantum as well.

How about Fiorella's? Casual, but good.

Haven't been in a long time, but I'll throw out Biaggio in Waltham.

You might be able to fit 25 people into the right-hand room at Vecchia Roma in the Nonatum section of Newton. We've had big groups there before, though more like 12-15 people.

That was the first place that came to my mind, but it is a smallish place. Definitely worth a call!
