Cavaillon
Thinking of going here this week. Anyone have any specific menu items (from apps to dessert) they'd recommend? No foie gras or escargots. Website shows a limited time only "Maine lobster festival menu"; any thoughts? Thanks!

re: ibstatguy
Thanks for the suggestions. Finally went last night, but passed on the tasting menu since I didn't have the time or energy for 5 courses on a Tues night. Looked like a great deal though.
Husband went with the warm and cold veggie salad with warm goat cheese, the pork cheeks with apracot polenta, vanilla bean cream bruele and loved all.
I had the wild mushroom ravioli, diver scallops and chocolate pastilla with coconut sorbet. Scallops were just OK, cooked to perfection, but overpowered by the fennel in the dish. But the wild mushroom ravioli....so delicious. Ibstatgy I'm with you, hooked. Next time I'm doubling that for an entree. The website shows a special lobster menu and I assumed if it was on the website it was current, but alas no lobster. Maybe it coincides with locat lobster season?
Also had very good service.-

re: eatemup
Tried them at both places and the ones at Luc's are not even close in terms of quality to the ones at Cavaillon. The chef at Luc's is not the chef from Cavaillon. Philippe Verpiand is officially the executive chef of Luc's but has not much to do with the day to day business and unfortunately you can see it in the execution.

re: eatemup
Thanks eatemup. I'll give them a whirl even if they are different. We just discovered Luc's with an Entertainment book coupon and enjoyed it so much we were back within the week. Not sure if it was really good or if we were just starved for something new (to us anyway) in the area. Loved the onion soup, brasied chicken thighs, and husband enjoyed a seafood crepe special and roasted tomato soup. Had good service both times. Quite a nice surprise in a nondescript strip mall. Great price too. I didn't know there was a connection to Cavaillon!

You could go for the 5-course tasting menu which is very good priced with $55 (+$25 for wine pairing) which will gve you a good overview of the Cavaillon dishes. The tasting menu has normally foie gras but you can talk with them and they will serve you something else. If you go ala carte, the risotto is very good, they often have some very good braised dishes.
