I just wanted to an update on my recent trip to Chicago. First things first, this was one of the best trips food wise I have ever been on. Chicago totally blew my mind. My girlfriend and I were both virgins to the Chicago area so we were excited to check it out. We stayed in Lincoln park near Clark St. I really liked the location since we didn't have a car and it was very easy to walk, grab a cab around the city.

Here is a breakdown on where we ate / played from June 15-19:

15th (tues): Landed around 4ish, got ready and went to cafe de architectes. It was a tuesday so we were fornuate enough to get the neigborhood menu. It was only $29/per person. We had a couple glasses of wine and cocktails. This place was amazing. For the price and the quality it was a delight. Went back to Lincoln park after dinner and had drinks at the Durkin. Pretty chill dive bar and called it a night after that.

16th (wed): Lunch at Portillos. Had the Chicago dog and cheese fries. I like how they don't pour the cheese on the fries like the places here in SD. You can dip at your own pleasure. Dinner we went to Coco Pazzo. Really nice Italian spot and also very affordable. The service was excellent and the food was great. We finshed up there and grabbed some cocktails over at the Publican. After that we went over to the Wicker Park area and caught a show at the Double Door.

17th (thur): Went to the cubs game. Hip up all the bars around wrigleyville. Just ate bar food and random stadium food...the rest is a blur..ha

18th (fri): Lunch at Geno's East. It was really crowded with a line out the door. We wrote our names on the wall in white out and had a deep dish pep/ sausage pizza. It was really good and filling. We also had a couple glasses of the local Goose Island local brew. Dinner was at North Pond. Really good and in an awesome location. Right next to our place.

19th (sat): We had lunch at the Purple Pig...cool spot. I liked how everything was shared. We also sat at a community table, so it was fun listening to other peoples conversations about random stuff. It was a really interesting, yet tasty menu. I wish we had a purple pig in SD.

All in all we had a great trip and loved our first visit to Chicago!! We can't wait to go back and I appreciate all the food data from other people to make our trip so amazing!
