Meeting in the Financial District - SHO a good choice for dinner afterwards?
Hello all. Trying to get opinions on SHO. We have not been her before but an evening meeting will put us in the area so we were thinking we (just GF and I) would stay around and have dinner at SHO. What have your experiences been like? Do you recommend it?

Thought I would just do a quick report back to say the meal was FANTASTIC. After the positive comments I expected a good meal but this was on par with some of the best we've had in NYC. Made arrangements prior to arriving to have tasting menus (I say menus because my GF is a vegetarian so they had to do some special dishes for her so we had different menus) so I had no pre conceived notion of what was coming next and ultimately I didn't care because it was all wonderful. Chef Hergatt stopped by while my GF was eating for corn soup and he got a chuckle out of it when she said it was so good she wanted to take a bath in it. He was very interested in her opinion of the vegetarian menu (she loved it). SIDENOTE: If you have any vegetarian friends tell them with advance notice they can do the veg tasting but they also said they always have items on the menu that can be adjusted to be vegetarian/vegen. After the amuse my menu went:
Ocean trout
Foie gras
Corn soup with crab
Amadai
Lamb tasting (belly, sweetbread, tenderloin)Cannot wait to get back in and try some items from the pre fixe.

SHO has become a favorite for me. This thread answers your question very well:

Definitely worth a try. Sam Sifton of the Times also gave it a shout-out on his "Ask the Critic" page this week (which, although brief, almost contradicts his own two-star review). We went Mother's Day weekend and about 6 months before that, and were very pleased both times. Most reviews on this board have been positive, so do a quick search and check out recommended dishes and such.
