Ha! Good luck. There is a butcher out in Oakville (Florence Meats?) that does boerwors, biltond, perhaps some other such things. There used to be a place on the Sheppard subway line at Bessarion Station that had a lot of that sort of Saffa stuff, but I was told on the board here that it changed name and moved to around Victoria Park (way north). If you hear of anything downtownish, PLEASE let me know.

I heard they setup a new shop....but I never checked it out.

You went to the John St location? The Green Lane one is shut down. They do have a fair selection of biltong (inc. piri-piri) and boerwors here.

I second the note on Memories of Africa. We've picked up biltong and boerewors from there, among some other South African snacks and drinks that remind my husband of home. It's at Victoria Park and Eglinton Ave East.

Definitely not downtown, but I passed by a shop that had Biltong on the windows (along with Beef Jerky on the other window) at the Shoppes at the Promenade Village Shoppes (the shoppes that back onto the intersection of Centre St. and Bathurst).

Memories of Africa carry a few distributors of biltong, most importantly Florence. They sell many of their other products as well. I’ve also come across biltong at Pusateri’s

Nortown Foods has these at their Promenade location at Thornhill. Check their Eglinton location west of Bathurst.

The place at Promenade Village is called Eat-Sum-More. They make their own Biltong and Wors there and have a huge stock of S.A. snacks, chocolates & grocery items. Call ahead to reserve a whole BBQ chicken (S.A. style) on Fridays.

The Best Biltong I have had in Canada comes from British Columbia.
It's made by an old south african couple and they sell it online. if memory serves, a 500gm bag is for $30.00. I have tried both flavours (Original and Peri Peri), and prefer the Peri Peri as it is a little spicer than the other. They also have Boerewors, Droewars and Rooibos tea.
