Where do we go to eat when going to the Mets stadium?
My darling Chowhound I need your trusted advice!!We are looking for a place to eat a GREAT meal before or after the game. A place the locals go...not a tourist trap.
1) Flushing (5 min drive or 1 stop on 7 train)- tons of great options here, search through previous discussions. My personal favorite is Joe's Shanghai followed by bubble tea at Sago. If it's dim sum time, Ocean Jewel is good also. If you like Korean food, tons of places in Flushing as well- Kum Gang San comes to mind. A little further on is Southern Spice for great Indian food.
2) In Corona, Tortilleria Nixtamal for Mexican or the famous Italian deli Leo's Latticini for an Italian hero sandwich. Parkside, a more formal old school Italian place, is right there also, a block or so from another old school place- Lemon Ice King.
3) The food at Citi Field itself is pretty good. They have a Mama's of Corona stand, a Danny Meyer taco place that has very good tacos (3 for 10.50), a Shake Shack, and a Blue Smoke (pulled pork sandwich recommended).

Spicy and Tasty always gets a rec when this topic/area comes up, if you don't mind heading across the tracks into Chinatown.
There are no "touristy" places nearby but this would be easier to answer if you told us what type of food you wanted and how you were getting to Citifield.
Little Pepper on Roosevelt Ave is within walking distance and is always my choice when going with a group.
