Looking for stylish place for drinks and dinner near Towson, Lutherville, etc.

Looking to take the Mrs. somewhere we can get a bit dressed up, have a few drinks, then a nice dinner. Anywhere near Towson, Timonium, Hunt Valley, etc. you can recommend?

  1. Definitely check out Cafe Troia and/or Christopher Daniel.

My husband and I enjoyed Patrick's when we dined there in the Fall.

If you want dressy, then opt to go to Oregon Grille. But, there are a lot of Chowhounders who have some definitely negative comments about the venue. They had less then pleasant experiences.

In any event, I hope that whatever establishment you select, that you and your wife will have a lovely evening. FoiGras

Agree with above 2 recs and maybe add Bluestone to the list in Lutherville. They are all casual dressy and can meet your goals. I am one of the Oregon Grille non-fans so.................

If you really want to dress up and do it Baltimore the extra 15 minutes to the Prime Rib for cocktails & dinner. I have lived here 50 years and there is still no better way to do it. I also love Tio Pepe but not everyone agrees here. I am taking my wife to Chameleon Cafe this week for dinner for our anniversary

      Prime Rib
1101 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD 21202

      Oregon Grille
1201 Shawan Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030

I agree with "jck" as far as dressing up and dining out for a bit of a more special occassion type restaurant--Prime Rib is the place to go.

I also like Tio Pepe's. Many Chowhounders poo poo this place. But, it does have decent, sometimes excellent cuisine and service. I would avoid dining there on a Saturday evening. We usually go early on a Sunday and am treated to a lower keyed atmosphere. The chef usually visits the tables and sometimes brings out little treats on the house.

I have enjoyed dining at Bluestone in Lutherville, but it maintains a very casual atmosphere. Not a dress-up place to dine.

There is also the Milton Inn in Sparks, MD (not far from Hunt Valley). Although, on our last visit we were very disappointed in the food and service. The entire meal was very bland and we waited far to long for water glasses to be filled, drink order to be taken and bread/roll service. It was on a Saturday evening, but quite early--about 5:30, long before the peak of frenzy that most restaurants endure for the 7-8 p.m. crowds. FoiGras
