Drinks in Belltown?
Not really looking for chow, more drinks, but if the place served some food it would be a plus. Looking for a bar to go to with some people after class next weekend. So, a place where we can maybe hear our conversation, but not morgue-like. We're really near 3rd and Bell and I know there are about 5 bars just south of Mama's. Would any of those joints be cool? My impression of Belltown is that it is a single's bar area, which isn't what we are looking for--but I may be out of touch. Ambiance like Smith, or Barca on Capitol Hill would be nice. Just don't know the area well (plus, I don't go out as much these days... clearly). Thanks!

Bathtub Gin, in the alley between 1st and 2nd on Blanchard, IS a very nice place to go if it's not packed. You can order food there from the restaurant next door, La Fontana Siciliana, which is usually pretty tasty. Branzino, on 2nd and Wall, is a very nice watering hole also. And their food is delicious! La Vita e Bella a few doors down has a small bar and isn't usually busy but not the best place for food. Hope this helps.

Not sure if this works but I had a nice time last week at the Local Vine. Very attentive and knowledgeable bar staff. More geared to wine but we had some fervent beer drinkers in our party who were quite happy with their beer selection as well. Drinks were pricey but the atmosphere was great.
