Excuse my California girl ignorance.. What's "fried pie?" I'm going to Nashville for a long weekend at the end of October and I'm looking for all the Nashville must-eats!

It's a sweet pocket pie. Like the pies you get from McD's. Only better by quantum leaps and bounds.

I love those!! McDonald's (at least here in CA) does not do the fried pockets anymore--they're the baked ones, which suck. I loved those things when they used to sell them here when I was a kid. Fried and delicious and wonderful!

I'm not sure if you count Bell Buckle as part of the Nashville area but the oatmeal cake at Bell Buckle Cafe is not to be missed.

I'd also like to add the chess pie and squash casserole at Puckett's in Franklin.

I just had the fried pickles from both BW3 and Otters, and BW3 is much much better. Otters was overly greasy and salted beyond compare.

Not at a bad list at all, although Dairy King is currently closed due to the recent floods.
