Meals in/around Santa Barbara recommendations?

Hi everyone,

I'll be in Santa Barbara staying in the East Beach area. Looking for some lunch/dinner recs within walking distance of that area (may have access to a rental but not counting on it). $$$ is fine, just looking for some good eats while I'm on vacation :)

Thanks in advance!

  1. Emilio's on Cabrillo Blvd close by is good for N. Italian. The long Wharf has casual but good Santa Barbara Shellfish and the recently improved Harbor Restaurants. Lots of little places around the Harbor (where the ships are docked). You are in prime tourist area here but there is value here, if not dining refinement.

Shuttles for 25 cents go up State Street into more prime dining areas clustered around the 1000-1300 blocks of State Street- the Historic Arts District that serves more locals than tourists and then on your own into the Upper State 3200 blocks where the real local favorites are. The new chef at the very lovely old El Paseo is getting some good reviews in this very charming historic architectural icon of Santa Barbara if you want fresh versions of Mexican with a good happy hour.
