Thelma's is the only place in Santa Clarita that I've had a good breakfast prepared by a real chef (formerly at Chinois on Main in Santa Monica). Good pancakes, gf likes the egg dishes and breakfast potatos. While I haven't tried Egg Plantation, I'm not an egg guy, I've had greasy and lousy tasting food at The Saugus Cafe a couple of times in the past so I stopped going. It's an old, historic diner that I want to like but at least when I went the chow was not good. Another place that some here suggest is The Way Station but the biscuits were Bridgeford pre-made frozen (I saw the boxes) and the other items while not terrible were barely mediocre. Also tried Lilly's Cafe at the bowling alley on Lyons Ave. and again the food was just mediocre.

It appears as though Thelma's is closed on Sunday :(.

Not true! I looked at their Yelp page which indicated that they are open Tue-Sat but that is not correct. Even though I have been recently for breakfast on Sunday, in case something had changed, I just called them. The chef/owner answered and said that they plan on being open tomorrow until 3 pm.

Hi LisaN, my lads want to give it another try so I'm wondering what you've had that was "great" at Lily's Cafe?

For breakfast, i like their simple combo breakfast, which I happened to have for dinner tonight, 2 sunny side up eggs, bacon, sausage and english muffin. Bacon is always crispy without having to ask for it that way.

You can also get homefries or hash browns, both are good, but my favorite is the homesfries with onions and peppers (they'll also let you have it without)

I will say, their omelettes are decent, but never WOW me.

I hate to beat this to death but what about their non-egg dishes like French Toast, Pancakes and Biscuits?

I've never had pancakes and french toast, I do like their biscuits and gravy (never had them anywhere else, so I can't compare - my friend ordered them). I've been here has to be at least 100 times by now (no, I'm not exaggerating) and been satisfied. The breakfasts are a good price, its cooked well, the staff is pleasant, cares about their customers and doing their job well. Everyone I've told about this place has liked it

My friend loves their eggs benedict, she gets it about every other time she goes. I think my friends son has gotten pancakes and liked them, I'm just not a pancakes person.

Its not fancy, just good food at a good price, and saves you from the standard drek at the plethora of chains we have out here.
For instance 2 eggs, potatoes, 4 strips of bacon, english muffin is $6.45 If you get the one egg combo its I think 4.95.

I see you went before and didnt' really like them, give it another shot, just know its not going to be fancy and more gourmet like Thelmas.

BTW I agree with you about Saugus Cafe - yuck!

With all due respect to Sel and LisaN, the saugus special omelette has healing powers after a night of imbibement. Trust me. I've done the research. :)
