Ollie's in Daphne?

I heard a report that Ollies Barbecue has returned -- this time to Daphne. Is it true, or is this a sort of religious vision where someone saw an Ollie's logo in a piece of toast or somesuch? Do they still have the coconut pie?

It's been closed down in Daphne for a few years.

DC, that was true several years ago - they did open an Ollie's in Daphne around 2004 or 2005, I think, but they are no longer in business.

I know people who are still sick at the kids who moved the business from University to Valleydale Road; it didn't last there long at all. All the character they had at the old building sure didn't translate in Hoover.

Do you remember all those sassy waitresses who - no matter how many were in the party - never wrote down the orders? And those fantastic pies...oh my...

You can still buy their sauce at regional grocery stores, though.

I'm one of those people. I still get the sauce when I'm in Alabama, and it covers all my mistakes when I make barbecue, but I've never found pie as good as Ollie's. I'm still looking.
