Lunch in Civic Center during jury duty
I have jury duty at the Civic Center courthouse (McAllister and Van Ness). Any good recommendations for "foodie" lunch spots within walking distance? Lunch break is about 1 hour. No fast food please. TIA.

I've only been once and had the fish soup lunch special and i was utterly amazed at the complexity of flavors. also had the tea leaf salad, which was superb too. others here have raved about it too.

The cafe in the Asian Art Museum is pretty good; it's close to the courthouse, and can be done within your lunch hour.

Morty's Deli was by far my favorite lunch spot when I was at Hastings. I think it was recently written up quite positively in the Chronicle. I always got a sandwich, but if you're a mac and cheese fan, Morty's is very tasty.

El Castillito on 370 Golden Gate Ave (and Larkin St) makes great Mission burritos
Lunch Geek at 1400 Market St (between Polk St and Fell St) has typical sandwiches but they experiment with Asian-themed specials like coconut-infused pulled pork banh mi and Taiwanese meatball sandwiches
Brenda's on 652 Polk St (and Eddy St) has the best catfish and shrimp po-boys if you call ahead for takeout.
Lers Ros Thai on 730 Larkin St (between Ellis St and O'Farrell St) is a bit farther but still manageable in one hour since the food comes out so quick. Call ahead for takeout and it will be ready by the time you arrive.

+1 on Saigan Sandwich.
+1 also for Gyro King at 25 Grove. They do great shawarma, as well as turkish style pizza (the open flat oval of bread covered with tasty spices and lamb.)
