bklynkat Jun 18, 2010 11:35 AM

Seeking recs for an nice early dinner within close proximity for the theater. ...
Open to cuisines...and price points. Doesn't need to be child friendly cause (YAY) I got a babysitter!
Thank you so much!

I'd second Fonda--you'll have a fun, reasonably priced Mexican meal there. If the guest of honor is more of a foodie, consider Applewood.

May be too late getting to this, but for something a little more elegant on Father's Day I'd choose 12th Street Bar and Grill over any of the above. The food is very good, if not terribly unexpected, french/american, but it's a wonderful, comfortable space, very attentive but low-key service, and somehow I feel like white linen tablecloths and a well-made cocktail should win out on Father's Day over something less formal.

That said, I have nothing but good things to say about Fonda, Beer Table and Brook-vin. Well, one thing: Beer Table doesn't have a full dinner menu, so I'd check out their menu online first to make sure it's what you're looking for.

Le P'tit Paris Bistro is a few blocks down Prospect Park West. Delicious and unpretentious French food.

Fonda, Beer Table, and Brook-vin: all on 7th Ave between about 12th and 15th Sts. (Theater is PPW and 15th.) Provini on 8th and 13th (?) looks nice, but I haven't eaten there.
