Difference b/w "Transparency" and a Consume

Is "transparency" an even fancier way of saying consume? I actually thought consume sounded haughty enough....why upgrade? I'm left to assume there may be a difference. No raft? Please help.

Looking at the use on the menu, it appears it's a clear herb infusion, rather than a stock based consomme that is clarified. Bit of an affection, really.
