North County inland or Temecula suggestions?

oerdin Jun 17, 2010 08:40 PM

I've just been told that some old college friends and their wives will be stopping in tomorrow and will be staying at Harrah's Rincon resort and casino. Since I'm the local guy I'm kind of expected to show them around and am expected to know some good restaurants to eat at. The problem is I don't really know much about north county inland (restaurant wise) and even less about Temecula. Does anyone have any chowish suggestions besides Nessy Burger?

Go to Las Brisas Taqueria in Fallbrook and order the carnitas plate or go to Cocina de Maria in Escondido.

The Public House in Temecula has served very good food and beer in my several visits.

Lunch at Carol's at the Baily Winery might be impressive to visitors.

Hacienda de Vega in Escondido has good atmosphere, and a nice bar. The food is generally good, and they have a good band on Friday and Saturday nights. It's a little pricey, bu t a good place to hang out. Zorro's in Old Town Temecula has surprisingly good Greek/Middle Eastern foods. It's in Old Town, and family owned.
