Tourists are in season! Come on up! Seriously, MDI (Mount Desert Island) has precious little farmland due to high real estate prices. Right now, the only "pick your own" would be strawberries at Tate's Farm in Corinth, north of Bangor. The seafood in season are soft shell lobsters, but since BH is a tourist destination, be prepared to pay top dollar. A lot of tourists seem to like The Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound (about 4 mi from my house), but I'd prefer Tracey's or The Galley at Bridge in Sullivan or Ruth & Wimpies in Hancock. If you take a kayak tour and have a studly looking guide w/ foxy silver hair, ask if he is a Dumkeg!
    Have Fun.
Thurston,s, in Bernard is popular too as well as Beal's in SW Hbr. (Notice the lack of recs. in BH?)

For seafood, Maggie's is excellent. It's kind of hidden in Bar Harbor, but well worth finding. Restaurant grew out of owner's experiences as a fishmonger, plus much of the produce comes from her farm. Splurge on the lobster crepes; worth it.

Also, COA just opened its farmstand.

Be sure to make a reservation for Maggies. I'm also partial to Poor Boys Gourmet, their lobster scampi, and the happy hour at Galyn's. And The Thirsty Whale for us locals.
