Grocery Stores that sell meatloaf mix?

I am making spaghetti and meatballs for father's day. The meatball recipe calls for meatloaf mix 1/3 ground beef, 1/3 ground pork 1/3 ground veal. Do you know of any stores in the DC/MD area that sell the mix or barring that,ground veal? Only source I can think of is smith meadow farms sometimes sells ground veal.

Safeway. I buy it from the one in Owings Mills and its aways fresh Perfect combination

I was told at Giant (Wellington/Manassas) that they won't make meatloaf mix anymore because of cross contamination.

Wegmans sells all 3 ground separately and will grind it on the spot if you want it fresh.

Try Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. I know Union Meat sells a meatloaf grind (pork, veal and beef) although I am not sure of the ratio.

re Union Meat, I believe it's an equal 3 part ratio, but one can always buy in a minimum of 1/2 pound quantities of each and mix it up to what ever proportion any reader may prefer.

Why can't you can ask the butcher at Safeway or Giant to make some for you on the spot?

also, you don't have to have veal -- you can do half pork, half beef. tip on ground beef -- get the butcher to grind you a london broil cut. i find it tastes so much nicer (at least to make a burger or spaghetti sauce, e.g.), and is very reasonable on sale.

better to buy the meat, then have butcher grind it.

I'll see if I can get the butcher at Giant to do this. I haven't found the butchers at my local giant to be especially accommodating but we'll see.

i love my butcher at harris teeter on harrison street in arlington, fwiw. i think they have better quality meat than giant.

btw, harris teeter this week has boneless chuck steaks for $3.49/# that could be ground successfully for meatballs. you might then want to use a little leaner pork than typical "ground pork for meatloaf." but you do need fat for a tender meatball.

and any grocery store butcher should be more than happy to grind any meat they are selling. if they're not, then tell the manager.

I have seen meatloaf mix at Giant and Safeway. I know Safeway also has ground veal, imagine Giant does too but never looked.

weird I've never seen it at the Giant I frequent, which is the one off Riggs Road in Hyattsville. (although this could be class-ism in grocery stores)
