Dinner party ideas?
I'm having a dinner party to celebrate my brother's engagement. It's going to be a buffet. I live in an apt, so I can't grill anything. We do have roof access with a view of the river. It might be fun to get everyone on the roof & watch the sunset, so maybe some food that would be easy to take on the elevator? It's just my immediate family, 10 people. They know all my go-to dishes. I want to do something special. I've been scouring my cookbooks & the food blogs, but was wondering if you guys had any good ideas. Thanks!!
Chicken Marbella is a great choice as stated by weezy. Make a super hearty salad with a homemade dressing. Buy some artisinal bread and real Danish butter. A great appetizer is thinly sliced baguette slices, toasted with thin slices of goat brie drizzled with premium honey, and cracked black pepper is great at room temp - assemblr ahead of time and bake off and serve great booze/wine. Crudites with an out of the box dip, chocolate covered fruit. Thin slices of Kobe or filet roast with a horseradish side dip.
This is lovely and special. I've done it in advance before where I've baked and shredded the salmon and set it aside, then made the sauce and set it aside. Then last-minute, boil the capellini and throw everything together. I've also added peas and asparagus to make it a rounded meal.
Is it possible to set up tables & chairs on the rooftop, or will you just do the rooftop for an appetizer & pre-dinner cocktail?
This is the sort of gathering that makes me think of Chicken Marbella. So easy to do ahead, can be served room temp, easy to transport if need be, etc.
