We are staying in Napili for the next week was hoping to get some feedback on the Sea House at Napili Kai and Maui Grill, which is in the old Fish and Poi space. Can anyone help me out? We tried Merriman's last year so we'd like to try something new. Thanks!

Seahouse is quite good and friendly. There are occasional missteps but the atmosphere is more laid back than Merriman's. I also prefer the view to that at Merriman's as you are right on the beach.

Thanks! We are trying Maui Grill tonight and The Sea House early next week. I'll post on both.

Maui Grill is a real "mom and pop" kind of place. The space is in the Napili Shores resort and isn't much on atomosphere. There is a definite "we aim to please" attitude with the hostess/server and the server/host/chef. The food was tasty. We had macadamia crusted mahi, coconut shrimp, seafood sampler, and the pineapple creme brulee. They don't have a liquor license, so it is BYOB for the mean time. Dinner for 4, without tip, was about $130.

Then there's the Sea House. The setting is stunning....right on Napili Bay with tiki torches and live Hawaiian music. We arrived without a reservation and were promptly seated on a Tuesday night. The food was good bordering on great. We, a party of 2 adults and 2 teenagers, all found something to love on the menu: mac coconut shrimp and shrimp and crab summer rolls, grilled ribeye, taro crusted sea bass, macadamia mahi mahi, and 2 cocktails. The hostess encouraged us to order the smaller "lite" portions of our entrees, which we ended up appreciating, since the portions were very generous. We were too full to try dessert but the coconut creme brulee was very tempting. With a cocktail for each adult, the bill ran about $140 before tip. I would definitely recommend The Sea House for a memorable evening.

Sea House - two breakfasts on two trips and all was great. Did not do any other meals there, but would return for the breakfasts.

Sorry, but we did not dine at the others.

We've stayed several times in Napili and love the Gazebo for breakfast and if the wait is too long we head to the Sea House..had some great meals there.
I would add Plantation House to the rotation at the Kapalua Golf Course for the best deal for breakfast of ahi benedict with a wasabi hollandaise..$15... great ocean views and no wait..
This seems to be one of the only major problems for Maui is breakfast dining..hour long waits and we all know that the coffee and then the food must come quickly.
Sansei for happy hour at Kapalua and Hula Grill at Whaler's Village for lunch with feet in the sand.

I agree completely with the Gazebo and the Sea House as a backup. As fate would have it, the lines were very long at the Gazebo (must have been a CH meetup, and I did not get my invitation!!!!), so we did do the Sea House and were treated to some lovely breakfasts. Been a bit since my last Gazebo meal, so comparison is hard, but still, Sea House was very good, and they tried very hard.
