West (Restaurant) in Vancouver?

Hey,

I'm planning a trip to Vancouver this weekend and while doing research as to the best restaurants in Vancouver I stumbled upon a post on here saying that a place called West may be one of the best restaurants in north America.

The problem being this post was from 2006 and trying to search for the word West on these boards is pretty difficult with it being used it just about every other post.

Anyone know if this place is still any good?

I ate at West a few weeks ago and the food & service were fantastic. As clutterer said, there may be other restaurants you'd want to check out; but it is still a quality restaurant.

More to the point, yes, West is quite good. I believe the other responses might be implying that there may be other options you'd want to check out.

You may want to note that, since 2006, the head chef position at West has changed over multiple times. I may be wrong, but I think they're still in the midst of transition right now. Still extremely high quality though.

Yeah, they just had a new head chef come in earlier this year. According to some sources, there has been a bit of an long adjustment period, but quality is still high.

Cheeseshredder - Warren Geraghty recently left in April/May or so and I thought (perhaps wrongly) that their chef de cuisine David Gunawan is currently at the helm. Perhaps they've since found a new head chef?

Thanks for everyone's input. I decided to go ahead and give West a try.

I've also made reservations at Le Crocodile and Bishops based on the posts in the other linked threads and for the last night we're planning on waiting in line at Vij's.
