Restaurant Recom. Near La Brea & Beverly Blvd.?

Pennifer Jun 15, 2010 04:03 PM

Hey, Chowhounders! Been awhile since I posted - had a baby since my last post and everything! Sure hope everything has been well with everyone!

Little Charlie is with his grandma tonight, and my husband and I are headed out to the New Beverly Cinema, on Beverly Blvd. & La Brea. We were wondering if anyone had any yummy restaurant recommendations for us.

We like all kinds of food, and always like to try a new place. Husband loves Italian, but we've had Mozza before - found it a little.. um.. too fancy for us? The food wasn't spectacular enough to make up for the haughty atmosphere (unlike Geisha House, where the food IS good enough to make up for the atmosphere!)

We come into the city from the valley, so we go through the heart of Hollywood (getting off the 101 at Highland), so you can include recommendations anywhere along the route.

We're taking off in about an hour (it's 4pm on Tuesday now) which I only mention so you don't waste your time responding after 5pm.

We appreciate your help in advance!

Jen

Where did you end up (and how was it)? We were out in the area last night around 7:30, but actually ended up getting Mozza 2 Go http://www.mozza2go.com/menu.cfm and taking it home (excellent bufala, prosciutto de parma and rucola panini) to consume. No frou frou issues with the 2 Go side. Very efficient and friendly service.
