Why doesn't Fairway UWS have a weekly circular?

Can anyone solve this mystery? I wish there were a way to know what was on sale in advance.

Huh? Fairway (UWS / 75th Street) doesn't have sales, that's why there's no circular. You can visit the website for the specials at the Red Hook, LI, etc. locations but not UWS, because there are none. Or at least I haven't witnessed any in my years and years of shopping there!

That's not true. They have sales regularly. For example, last week, Amy's frozen organic items were on sale. The mac n cheese were 2.50 instead of reg price 2.79. The sales are usually indicated by the yellow tags on, in this case, the freezer door.

I think the sales are usually on prepared things. I don't ever recall seeing a special sale price indicated on, say, coffee or fresh fruit. But I have seen cheese sale specials. They are usually indicated by a big sign by the cheese "cave" area.

I'll back this up, there are definitely sale items from time to time. One of my favorites was an anniversary sale awhile back where their jarred red sauce and a variety of meat/fish and other items were set back to their original price levels. That was probably 2 years ago.

Oh yes that anniversary sale was pretty amazing. I think it was indeed 2 years ago and was their 75th anniversary. We stocked up on things like their tomato sauce since the price was so great.

Wow, I stand corrected. I just noticed the other day that a jar of Fairway tomato sauce that I bought recently cost more than I would have thought. Wish I had stocked up earlier! ;-)

Edit: Oops. I was just reminded that we try to buy cereal when Fairway puts it on sale ...!

Yeah I noticed the uptick in the tomato sauce price maybe last year. I wondered at the time if it had to do with the tomato blight thing and all that. Too bad. But since I canned tomatoes myself last summer, we haven't been buying their tomato sauce anymore.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for cereal sales. I've never noticed a sale on the cereal I like. And I think most cereals are too expensive too! Thanks for pointing that one out.

By the way, they had a good sale a few weeks ago on the Ford Farm cheddar. It's really good and nice and sharp. I was surprised at how cheap the big hunk I got was.

Yes, cereal is pretty much overpriced but i figure it's at least a little healthier than eating donuts or something for breakfast. Purely for health reasons (certainly not for taste) we buy one of the Health Valley cereals. Fairway used to sell them for over $4, if I recall correctly, but you could buy via FreshDirect at 2 boxes for $5. That meant you could cover the FD $5 delivery fee, just by buying several boxes. I noticed Fairway brought down the price to match FD a while ago, though I think technically it's a sale price (yellow stickers, I think).

Thanks for the tip on Ford Farm cheddar. I like cheddar but haven't had it in ages. Now I'll have an excuse!

To be fair they just have the 5 locations so it'd be pretty pricey to create a circular every week like the major chains have.

Weirdly, the other locations have them, just not UWS (or Harlem, I think). Anyway, I'll use Twitter or e-mail to solve the case.

They are on Twitter. Why not just ask them?

As for the circular, I have no idea. But I love the coupons we get several times a year in the mail. Awesome stuff.
