Only One Dinner in Ocean City

We've never been to Ocean City before and will be staying over for just one night. Can you tell me the place to go for amazing seafood. Can be completely casual or a fine dine. Thank you!

  1. Are you talking about O.C. MD or O.C. New Jersey? If you mean O.C. MD, my favorites are Harpoon Hannah's, Harrison's Harborwatch, Hoopers and Phillips. All are noted for their seafood but of those Phillips is the most known. They have a very extensive all you can eat buffet but it is a buffet. My favorite there is the crab lumps au-gratin. Harpoon Hannah's is good and they have the most amazing coconut muffins. A waitress continually weaves her way around with a bread basket with a wide variety of breads but my favorite are those muffins. Harrison's Harborwatch is at the boardwalk's end with a view of the inlet. Food has always been very good there as it is at Hoopers.

For belly busting all you can eat, go to Waterman's. All the crabs, shrimp, crab legs and fried chicken you can eat. Last time I went it was about $30 a person. It sure isn't fancy but the food is good.

Most dining in O.C. MD is casual. Get the Beachcomber flyer for other ideas and maybe coupons. They are available at the grocery stores and they're free.

If you want O.C. New Jersey, I'm sorry if I wasted your time. I haven't been there myself in 40 years.

The restaurants around the marina all are good.

What about Sunset Grille. Is it comparable with Whirledpeas recommendations.

          Sunset Grille @ 12933 Sunset Ave., Ocean City, MD 410 - 213 - 8110.

Sunset Grille has the most amazing stuffed oysters ever! I had to get a second order, and my wife who doesn't like oysters even ate 2. They were baked with country ham, bleu cheese, and garlic butter. Now I want more. West Ocean City is the some of the best seafood around. Crab Alley, The Shark, Sunset, Harborside, It's fun to just jump from one to the other.

    1. All those recommendations sound good. What are the best spots in North OC or Fenwick? We are headed up there next week. We don't want to have to drive far after a drink or 2.

      2. Been in OC for a couple of days now. Ate lunch at Smitty Mcgees on Rt 54 at lunch. Great place with lots of locals. Had a grilled rockfish sandwich and wife had the tuna nachos which were amazing. Last night we ate at the Crab Bag. All you can eat crabs and corn for$25. Crabs were excellent and highly seasoned (very fat mediums) and the corn so sweet no butter was needed. Service was good. Good beer and drink selections. Think we will try Tequila Mockingbird for lunch today for a change of pace. Still trying to decide on dinner. Maybe Catch 54.
