Santa Cruz/Capitola Dinner Suggestions?
[This is a copy of the post I put on the San Francisco area.]
Hi, Everyone,
My husband and I are headed to Santa Cruz this weekend and we're looking for a good dinner spot to go to for my birthday dinner this Friday, 06/18. Here are some thought-starters:
-NO chain restaurants
-Not too expensive (entrees in the $20 range)
-Offers a wide range of fish, beef and poultry options
-NO Indian or Vegetarian places
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

You might enjoy the Crows Nest at the SC harbor. Nothing super fancy but a pleasant atmosphere. The outdoor patio is nice on a warm night. Not totally exposed to the elements but "topless". It's at the price point you mentioned.
Another would be Ristorante Avanti on the west side. Ecclectic, and very often good wine flights. All local, organic, and sustainable. Funky, quirky, fun.
Another worthy option on the west side is Bonny Doon's Cellar Door Cafe. Coastal cuisine under Executive Chef Charlie Parker who sous'd for David Kinch of the Michelin starred Manresa in Los Gatos. He was also the opening sous at Napa's Ubuntu.
