Great Cheesecake in Poughkeepsie/Fishkill/Everywhere In Between

applesauce23 Jun 14, 2010 11:58 AM

My mom requested cheesecake for my dad for Father's Day this Sunday. I know where to get delicious chocolate cakes and great fruit pies in the area, but I've never bought a cheesecake around here before. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    please please please...for cream cheesecake...

go across the river (call first to verify they're made today) to gardiner, just south of new paltz, route 55 (a bit windy from over here to there) to village market and bakery

While the cream cheese cake from the Village Market and Bakery is delicious, ( I've had the apple and the blueberry) it is not a traditional cheesecake. It is, as the website say, a cross between a cake and a cheesecake. Is this a special request from your dad? Where do you get your chocolate cakes from? They might have a cheesecake by the slice to try. Does Homespun Foods in Beacon make a cheesecake? Everything else there is excellent.

I really love the chocolate mousse supreme from Pastry Garden. it is definitely a crowd pleaser. I also LOVE the chocolate dulce de leche cake (by custom order only) at Twisted Soul in Poughkeepsie. Brenda is an amazing baker. The cupcake version is also amazing.

just went by the village market in gardiner, and they no longer have the cream cheesecakes.

they have some type of more traditional cakes, but there are definitely new owners. same kind of store, but obv. no cream cheesecakes.

i've blipped kris (maker of the great cheesecakes) a note to find out where / if they're still available...

I didn't get a chance to go to village market, so I asked Brenda over at Twisted Soul if she could make me a strawberry cheesecake. It was amazing. My husband, who doesn't like sweets, keeps on hounding me about when we're going to get some more cheesecake. LOL. It was simply outstanding.

Thanks for all the info, everyone!
