Moderately priced not-too-noisey for 6?

Hi Folks,

Looking for a new place to try this Thursday.
Nothing too pricey as I am being treated and don't want to put my host out.

What might you recommend for someone whose other local favorites are Aziza, Nihon Whiskey Lounge, La Folie, Sushi Time, Jackson Fillmore, Pane e Vino???

  1. I think you need to define "moderately priced", or at least which of the restaurants you named you would consider moderately priced. I also really don't see any connection between the restaurants you named. Nor will you find a moderately priced meal similar to what you'd get at La Folie. The early-bird prix-fixe at Chapeau! might be your best bet, although while it's certainly a bargain for the quality of food you get, it'll still end up being $35-40pp before drinks, which I would not consider moderate.

The only connection was that they are my favorite go-to restaurants in general.
I'm aware that they don't count as moderately priced (well, Sushi Time and Pane e Vino would count, I think). The others are probably higher than I'm after. So I was wondering if someone who liked those same restaurants had an alternative they might recommend...

    2. 54 Mint might fit the bill. If you go, definitely check out Thermidor next door for a cocktail.

      1. Chapeau! is generally a board favorite. Their standard prix fixe is a good value. Aziza is a good choice too. Firefly in Noe Valley might work.
