1 night in Aquebogne, L.I. - Dinner
I am staying 1 night on Long Island and need suggestions for dinner - $50 pp and under would be great. Local Seafood would be wonderful

There's a lot of discussion of recent restaurant activity under North Fork threads on these boards, might be a good place to look. For good food at moderate prices, Riverhead has a growing dining scene, and Greenport should offer choices. Look for posts by Coll, she lives out there and gets around.

For Aquebogue, at reasonable prices, go to the Modern Snack Bar...not so modern...looks like its straight out of the 50's (it was also the set for a Toyota commercial). Inexpensive, great drinks and wine, I like the duck and soft shell crabs...great duck breast salad too. Nothing gourmet...just good food and a pleasant atmosphere.

Thanks for the shout out. I'm going to suggest Bayview Inn since seafood is mentioned, old fashioned decor-wise but not the food. When we eat there it comes out to around $50 each including a few drinks. It's in Jamesport which is as close to Aquebogue as you can get. Modern Diner is OK, been there done that, but you have to be in a certain mood.
Also, Meetinghouse Creek Inn in Aquebogue, go south at the light: another oldie but goodie, and they have a Tiki Bar on their back deck on the water, so that could be fun.
