Birthday dinner Kansas City

  • 7

Here is the deal: I like creative food - Bluestem, Extra Virgin, - my boyfriend likes steak - J Gilbert's, Ruth's Chris. My birthday is coming up - any recommendations that would make us both happy? I have thought of Le Fou Frog, but he has a French-phobia. Thanks for the help!

  1. Well, my first response is...it's your birthday...go wherever the heck you want!

But it's sweet of you to make him happy, too. I would highly recommend Room 39. We had a lovely anniversary meal there a couple of weeks ago. Everytime I checked the menu (changes daily) they had a ribeye as an entree choice. Might be a good compromise. We were very pleased with our evening.

Le Fou Frog does do an excellent Steak au Poivre...too bad he's a francophobia.

    1. Personally I think Le Fou Frog is overrated and overpriced (except for the desserts) and doesn't have very good ambiance.

What about Michael Smith restaurant? It's got a fantastic, creative menu including a great tenderloin dish, plus the place is gorgeous!

@SFLisa Room 39 is a fine choice. Which location?

We went to yhe one at Mission Farms - it was terrific. I had salmon and he had halibut - both were wonderful.

      2. I think the Peppercorn Duck Club in the Hyatt would please both of you.

        1. I think Le Fou Frog would be great. We went there for our anniversary last year and my husband had a big steak & frites. He loved every part of the meal, from the Lobster Bisque, to the steak, to the Profiteroles & Creme Brulee for dessert. Delish!
