fresh olives

where a good place in manhattan to buy fresh olives? (like really good ones, not just average grocery ones)

    Pickles & Olives on 1st Avenue between 85th and 86th. It's owned by Turks, known for their olives. Great stuff.

      Turkey is surely known for its olives, but the ones I bought here were tired and old. Fairway (if you like them in oil) and Zabars (which retains the brine). Sahadi in Brooklyn has good quality, great buys, and lots of turnover.

      +1 for Fairway and Kalustyan's. Zabar's is another great option.
