Help need ideas for 50th anniversary party
I am trying to plan a 50th anniversary dinner party and do not live in Chicago. There will be about 20 people and I was thinking of something upscale with possibly a private dining room. We will be staying at the Hyatt so wanted something relatively close by. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Most hotel restaurants can accommodate you in a private dining room. The restaurants in the Hyatt itself are relatively undistinguished. Aria, in the Fairmont, offers excellent food; the menu is pan-Asian but there are a lot of American/steak items as well (last time I was there I had an excellent smoked prime rib). The Palm, the steakhouse in the Swissotel, is another option. If you are looking for a real fine dining restaurant nearby, Sixteen is in the Trump Hotel, just across the river. I'm sure any of these can provide a room for your group.
Those are the primary options within a few blocks. There are a lot more options in standalone restaurants but the good ones tend to be at least five blocks walks or so from the Hyatt. For example, Coco Pazzo Cafe, which is 5-6 blocks away, has a raised alcove that's the perfect size for your group, and separates it from their main dining area. www.cocopazzochicago.com/private-events.html
You also might contact the Hyatt Regency Chicago's concierge to get ideas for your event. Providing such advice is what they do for a living, and they often have inside knowledge and contacts that can be very helpful.
