Group dinner near Moscone Center

I've been asked to find a location for a dinner for about 20 people not too far from the Moscone Center (a short cab ride or walking distance is OK) during a medical meeting at the end of September. Typically the format is to have a menu with 3 or so choices per course that folks can order. Looking for mid-range pricing (for example, 3 years ago the meeting organizers had the dinner at Roy's).

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide. I'd prefer something more creative than the steak and chop places that the meeting folks usually select.

  1. If you don't mind family style and a bit of noise, then you might consider Lulu's, on Folsom. The noise is from the open room and which seems to bounce all the noise around. Family style makes it a more casual meal, tho the food is really very good.

    1. More casual than Roys, try Thirsty Bear. They have plenty of space.

I thought of Thirsty Bear too but i's noisier than Lulu's. More casual too, I think.

Zare at Fly Trap has a private dining room that can seat 26. The food is delicious and is something different than your group is used to.

      2. we just did a semi-large (12 people) dinner @ orson. the scientists in the group loved the creative aspects of the menu. It's only a few blocks from moscone and is a large somewhat hip space.
