Anyone have the scoop on new Mexican place going in where 33/Skewers/Bomboa used to be?

I only drive by it each and every day on my way to work but just noticed a sign for a new mexican place going in where 33/Bomboa, etc. used to be. I forgot the name, too. It's a wonder I remember my own.

Does anyone know anything about it?

That location used to be troublesome but with the new condos, maybe it will work. But then again, Bertuccis has been closed for at least a year with no new takers

  1. It's a new location for Brighton's Zocalo. While I never ate at the old one, I have enjoyed Arlington's Zocalo - had a great pozole there - and I know the new Zocalo plans to serve food and cocktails late. The Brighton spot had a ceviche cart, made guacamole tableside and served dishes like pipian verde and mole poblano, and I think the new one is shooting for something like that.

      THANKS

Any hope of affordable lunch take-out or are they aiming higher?

I've only eaten dinner at the old Brighton location, but found the food overpriced for what it was. Good, just an aggressive pricing policy.

Pricing looks even more aggressive in the new location - I seem to recall the guac was ~$8.50, now it's $9.25. Other prices also looked incrementally higher. But the patio and full bar will definitely add value.

    2. I posted a short review on the June openings / closings board (they opened last Wednesday):

      1. Their sign has been taken down.

        Did they close?

          really???? It was open yesterday...

The sign was up yesterday, too. But now the Skewers sign is up (probably had just been covered over). Or at least this was the situation at 9 am today.

I walked by last night at around 10PM and it was packed and still Zocalo. I didn't notice the sign.

Yes, the sign went back up.

I really only see it early in the morning and it always looks desolate, like everything else around there.
