Gelato in Toronto on the Yonge line?

Anyone know of a place that just does gelato that's somewhere on the Yonge subway line or within a few minutes walk from Yonge?

I'm looking for a place that's like Pure in Ottawa - or a really good ice cream parlor - must be on the line, though.

  1. For gelato, the only place I can think of is Xococava. It's about a block north of St. Clair station on Yonge.

For ice cream, there's the Dessert Lady that's just around the corner from Bloor station, on Cumberland just west of Yonge.

Staying with ice cream, and if you don't mind transferring to the Bloor line, there's Summer's on Yorkville Ave (get off at the Belair exit at Bay station and then cut through the lane way from Cumberland). And there's Greg's just west of Spadina station on Bloor.

It's too bad the gelato place in the AMC theatre building couldn't make a go of it. It was a nice treat to have gelato while catching a movie. Despite being at Yonge and Dundas, I guess it was hard to overcome the basement location in a way underutilized building.

1560 Yonge St., Toronto, ON M4T 2S9, CA

    1. Il Gelatiere is close-ish to Eglinton or Davisville. It's on Mt Pleasant about 3 blocks south of Eglinton. It's probably about a 10 min walk from the station.

647 Mt Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON M4S, CA

I agree with Il Gelatiere but will also throw in Hollywood Gelato, despite being on Bayview. Definitely worth the walk over.

For ice cream, not gelato, Dutch Dreams is close to the St Clair W station.

Il Gelatiere and Hollywood are not on the Yonge line nor are they a few minutes walk from Yonge. And even if you walk at Olympic pace, you'll be hard pressed to get to Il Gelatiere from Eglinton Station in 10 min.

Gelato Simply Italian (same people as Il Gelatiere, I've heard) is right on Yonge between between Davisville and Eglinton. Highly recommended - they have an excellent pistachio that I actually dream's that good!

        3. Adam & Eve at 97 Maitland (just east of Church, about a five-minute walk from the Wellesley subway station) offers a smallish but delicious selection of gelato. Try their "Romantic Rose"--luscious and exotic. Their handmade chocolates and truffles are also outstanding.

          1. My Favourite is on MacPherson, 20 feet from Yonge, a block north of Rosedale. They serve many flavours of Greg's.

La Bamboche is on Manor, just east of Yonge, about three blocks south of Eglinton. Their gelato is housemade, though selection is not as wide as other places.

La Bamboche doesn't have gelato, they sell Greg's ice cream. Grano down the street has several flavours from Gelato Fresco.

I had forgotten about this place! Thanks for reminding me!

              3. hollywood gelato is my favourite, and even though it's on bayview, you can get to it by getting off at davisville station (on the yonge line), taking the bayview 11 bus and exiting at the Fleming Bus Stop

you can make it a two-fer stop - Mad Italian opened up across the street and a wee bit south of Hollywood.
