Restaurants near Long Branch
Just moved to Long Branch for the summer and looking to eat somewhere that is not in pier village. anything within driving distance (20 - 30 min) is ok too!
You've made two good decisions; coming here for advice and staying away from Pier Village. That being said, I recommend you try Belford Bistro. It's my favorite restaurant in the county (if not the State). Good Luck.

Used to live "across the tracks" on Morris Ave. and felt there should be a place between None-zios and Two-zios named "One-zios." :-)
Seriously, what are you looking for? Great authentic Mexican on Broadway at Acapulquenos and a ton of Portuguese places. Nikos Trapezi for Greek in Ursala Plaza, Navesink Fishery up in Atlantic Highlands, Kanji Japanese in Tinton Falls. Great new BBQ at Jersey Shore BBQ in Belmar...

Loads of great choices in Long Branch: I second Nunzios and Tuzzios, Freddie's makes great pizza, too, they're on broadway, Jr's is THE place for burgers and fries imho. I also like The Sitting Duck for a beer and a burger/grilled chicken sandwich. Charley's has a fantastic upstairs deck where you can have a drink while looking at the ocean. I also enjoy Sea Bright pizza and Anjelica's is alright for a little dressier Italian. That's it for now. Happy Eating!

I live in Ocean and Long branch is my favorite food town in the area!
There are tons of Mexican/Latin joints along Broadway that are all very good. If you just drive down the street you'll see tons of different places. My favorites are Pearl of Lisbon and Oaxaqueno but there are many other places I still haven't even checked out.
On Brighton Ave, Jr.s serves up one of the best burgers in our area, and Jack's is a wonderful restaurant/bar with good drinks and great food served til 1am. Try their garlic wings. Richard's is one of the best (only?) delis we have in the area, and the Celtic Cottage has some decent Irish fare and a mean corned beef sandwich. Izu is also right off Brighton and serves up pretty decent sushi. Also, try the Surf Tacos at Surf Taco. I also like to go to Ming Ying for noodle bowls...it's not the best noodle bowl ever, but it's literally one of only two places that serves them in our area.
Elsewhere in Long Branch, I like La Scarpetta on Locust Ave, and Attilios in the Shop Rite plaza for homey italian food, Niko's in Ursula Plaza has great Greek food, and El Rancho by the train station has good Mexican and really good Al Pastor tacos. Also try the Pezao BBQ/Buffet on 36 for Brazilian.
Oh, and I know you said 'not in pier village' but I really do love going to Avenue for happy hour. They mix up some truly amazing cocktails there. Seriously I can't think of another bar in our area that even comes close. Plus the oysters are always awesome, and their cheese plate makes me really happy every time I get it. :)

I went with the hubby a few weeks ago. I've driven past it for 6 years now, but friends said they go often, so we went. I wasn't really impressed. We had the anitpasti plate, which was alright, a little skimpy though. The rolls were good. I had pasta with sausage and garlic and oil but they were a little too heavy handed on the oil; it was very greasy. My dh had pasta with eggplant. It was alright. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the prices. We've been to Johnny Piancone's twice now (where Cask / Joe and Maggies used to be on Broadway) and liked it much better than Tavolo.
