Japanese River Crabs?

Does anyone know anywhere in L.A. that serves these? A friend, whose taste I trust, was recently in Las Vegas and had an appetizer of Japanese River Crabs at a restaurant called Sushi Samba - apparently a small chain, Japanese / Brazillian. He says that they were fantastic. I won't be in Las Vegas anytime soon, but I'd like to try some. Anybody know anywhere? Thanks.

Hirozen usually has them to, and cheaper than at the other places.

Sushi Iki regularly has live sawagani. Chef Eddie fries them up nice and crisp. Very tasty.

Thanks all. I'll call around and see what I can find out, then report back after consuming some. They are the sawagani crabs.

If you're talking sawagani crabs, R23 used to have them all the time. Kiriko has them as well.

I saw the little crabs at Kiriko a few weeks ago. I would have ordered them, but I was already stuffed.

                Hi estone888,

They used to be served (delicious!) at the now defunct Kaiseki-version of Kagura. :( Nice to hear that Asanebo had them (thanks to Bombay). It's definitely a supply / seasonal thing, as the multiple times I went to Asanebo, we never saw them. Good luck.

If you are talking about the teeny tiny crabs (sawagani) that are deep fried, they had them at Asanebo a couple of months ago. They were delicious! I would call to make sure they still have them.
