Are you looking for said turkey burger in any particular part of town? As you can see from these search results http://search.chow.com/search?query=t...= there have been a lot of turkey burger recommendations made on the LA board over the years.
Also, will you go back and let us know where you and your girl friend ended up for her birthday dinner (and what you had and how you liked it)? A report would be a nice way to pay off for the kindness of those who made suggestions on that particular thread.

I've had very good turkey burgers at Stefan's LA Farm and Stefan's on Montana as well as Urth Cafe. I also hear that Rush Street in Culver City has a great version too.

Really liked the Umami turkey burger. Very tender and juicy with lots of flavor. Each Umami has different turkey burgers on each of their menus. (also Umami is coming to Studio City this fall)

A lot people like Akasha's. I don't remember it well, other than that it was very moist.

For all the grief 8 Oz. gets for their beef burger, I had their turkey burger the other night and it was better than it's been in a while. (Chef Armstrong is roaming around lately so perhaps that's why).
I order it just as they have it, with mustard greens, bacon and horseradish dijonnaise.

I love that T-burger, really good.

26 Beach has a great turkey burger and you can substitute it on any of their amazing burgers. After all they just won The Best Burger in LA Contest, they must be doing something right!

Burger Stand, 3413 S. Crenshaw. By far the best I've ever eaten--that somewhat gamey ground turkey taste is totally negated. No place to eat, though, and the stand itself is, well, fortified. A number of other good turkey burgers to be found in South L.A., too.

I'm not a Turkey Burger fan, but from what my brother tells me, the Counter's is supposed to be amazing--and very healthy, too, coming in at 500 calories I think.
Hope that helps!

I have had the turkey burger at The Counter, and it is huge and very good. They have sweet potato fries too.
I don't usually order Turkey burgers, but they had a $1 off special that day.

I thought you had your choice at The Counter, 1/3, 2/3 or 1 lb, is the turkey burger one size or did you order the 2/3 or 1 lb version?

I didn't take note, sorry, I just ordered whatever the daily special was on the chalkboard. I couldn't much more than half of it, but I'm a short woman, not a big man.. I can't quite finish a double-double at InNOut.

Fat Burger's is surprisingly good. Also "Hamburger Habbit" on Sepulveda and National does a good one.
I've found The Counter's turkey burger to be hit and miss - often arrives at the table a bit dry.

My two favorite turkey burgers are from Fat Burger and Tavern.

Another vote for Fat Burger's Turkey Burger. My "go to" burger. Of course, you've gotta have Fat Fries and Rings with that otherwise, what's the point?

I have liked the ones I've eaten at Hole in the Wall Burger Joint (hidden away behind the Winchell's donuts) on S Bentley.

I have not been in 5 or 6 years. It is so hip now. I remeber when it was lots of bikers, back when 26 Beach was across the street in the 80's. A great bar burger!

Better watch out for those old folks....Guess what, Wilafur? I know a lot of folks who are an "avg age of 50" and still hip. I think I'll have to try Hinano.

50 is the new 30. Now if I only had the knees of my 30 year-old body and my 20 year-old metabolism. Hal's on Abbot Kinney has a pretty mean turkey burger, but as others have mentioned as well, I'm more into beef.

Compared to what it used to be 20+ years ago, yeah, the whole are is hip.

Hinano's tastes like its smoked, which personally I don't care for, but that may be other's cup of tea.

TAVERN, HINANO and 26 BEACH have my favorites.

Tavern is the best one i've had, but it's also the only turkey burger that I've paid $16 for. I don't know if it's that good.
Tavern's turkey burger is that good . No other turkey burger even comes close. Plus, it comes with great fries, salad or onion rings. That burger, a great martini and, now, the ability to watch NBA game at the Bar...HEAVEN!!

i was HUGELY disappointed in the turkey burger at Tavern today. it was my first visit there, and nothing about my food made me want to go back. the burger had a visible coating of grease on the outside, it was super-salty, and i found no evidence of the tomato confit in the totally white interior of the patty, save for two tiny bits of tomato SKIN. i ate about half of it and that was all i could manage to get down...and the arugula "salad" that came with it was a bowl of extremely tough, chewy arugula leaves slicked with a heavy layer of oil. one bite and i was done.
the service was fine, and to her credit, our waitress was very accommodating when i had her check on the gluten situation for me before i ordered...but all in all it was a bust for me. i actually would have said something about my dissatisfaction, but i was on a date, and he chose the place and was paying, so i didn't want to make an issue of it. (he did appear to enjoy his "Pilgrim" sandwich, though.)

Another votesfor lucky devils. I will rarely go turkey when i want a burger yet I always get the turkey at LD. Reminds me of a fathers office in quality yet a little healthier

I don't think it's been mentioned yet - I love the turkey burger at Hal's on Abbot Kinney.

I have a friend who wants a turkey burger from here whenever she's in town. She's a big turkey burger connoisseur, so I'll second this rec.
I've had one from Hal's and agree it's good, but I don't have much to compare it too, as I usually go for the beef burgers.
