Need a GREAT venue for a 40th birthday bash in Fairfield County

And I don't have much time!!! Planning on having it on July 17th. Would love a venue with a nice view...maybe something close to Long Island Sound or on a lake. Not sure if I should go with a hall or a restaurant. The venue needs to be able to accommodate 65 people for dinner and dancing. I can have it anywhere between Stamford and New Haven, but would prefer somewhere between Norwalk and Milford. Any suggestions?

  1. This is the best view you can ask for since it is constantly changing and the largest boat should be able to handle 65. The jfoods did this years ago and still one of the best events they ever hosted

This looks amazing! Do you think the yacht can accommodate dancing?

you might need the biggest boat. the jfoods had a 5-6 piece band, which was waaaay too many (he would do 3 next time) so it could probably do. Ask when you call.

    2. Be careful of the restaurant route if you are targeting a Sat night.
A recent poster in Fairfield County was searching some restaurants for a bday and beause a party can sometimes infringe on "regular" dinner seats (figure 2 - 3 seatings per table) the cost per person can be very high - - like $250 - $300 + to cover the cost of the lost seating.

You're right. I've been finding that out. Way too expensive!

      2. Inn at Longshore looks great.

        Inn at Longshore @ 260 Compo Road S., Westport, CT 203 - 226 - 3316.

        The Waters Edge at Giovanni's @ 2748 Post Road, Darien, Connecticut 203 - 325 - 9979.

What about North Haven. CT's premier wedding site.

        Fantasia @ 404 Washington Ave., Route 5 N., North Haven CT 203 - 239 - 6652.

        Waters Edge
2748 Post Rd, Darien, CT 06820

          Hey L,

The Inn has a great view, but the food leaves a lot to be desired; Giovanni's overlooks a pond/inlet and not exactly good cuisine as well. Fantasia is a bit out of jfood's zip code.

Have you had different experiences there?

        2. This is the best one so far. Right on the water.

          Amarantes Sea Cliff @ 62 Cove St., New Haven CT 203 - 467 - 2531.

Thanks for the lead. This is one I'm definitely going to check out.

          2. Splash (Westport) may meet your "nice view" needs.
I've never eaten there but there are many threads that discuss them - - - verdict seems to be that some food is great and other dishes are just OK - - - but the views are what make it.

It's a fun place, the view is great, the food is good, not fabulous, but at least more interesting than a typical catering place.

agree with Splash choice. FANTASTIC view & the food's a little better than Inn at Longshore...

I've never been to Splash, but will definitely check it out. Thanks for the responses. The leads have been SO helpful!
