Recommendations for Vic Park and Sheppard area?

  • 9

I just started a new job and looking for recommendations for restaurants and take out joints in the Vic Park and Sheppard area. Any cuisine will do, as long as it is cheap and good and quick for takeout lunch

  1. Some ideas to get you started...if you pop over to Pharmacy and Sheppard, there is a strip mall cluster that has some options: ABC Euro Deli has a decent deli counter and breads to make your own sandwiches at your desk if you have to, and some small containers of soups and things that are quite tasty. A couple of falafel/shawarma joints have popped up there that are perfectly serviceable, if nothing special, and the . Tucked back behind the main strip are Cafe Michi when you're feeling a bit more spendy for sushi, and Lin Garden, which isn't the best hakka I've had, but serves its purpose.

Also, on Vic Park just south of Sheppard, there's My Place fish and chips - a darn good neighborhood spot.

      I second Lin Garden.

I might get bashed for this but since you're in the area, why not try Johnny's hamburgers.......just north of Sheppard, beside the old Esso station.

Thanks for your suggestions! By the way, I tried Rasa Sayang, Hakka place before I saw your post and what a disappointment. I am eating it now and just regretting that I bought it. So bland!!! I will have to try Lin Garden, and My Place Fish and Chips. Ooh I love fish and chips!

I think Johnny's is just south of Sheppard, east side, beside the old Esso station. You got yourself turned around, methinks.

      2. I like Alara at Sheppard and Consumers. 2044 Sheppard Ave. E. Turkish cuisine.

I dont know if its ideal for a lunch or whatnot, but Athens Pastries has a location on Victoria Park south of Sheppard on the East side of the street, in a little plaza(just a bit south of Johnny's. You could grab a Tiropita or Spanakopita(Cheese pita or Spinach/Cheese Pita) for like just over $3 and those are absolutely delicious(as good as the Danforth Location) and pretty filling, I highly recommend everyone in the city try these.

If you dont like Spinach, the cheese is absolutely excellent, my personal fave. Plus they have these Honey Ball things(I forgot the Greek name, Loukimedes or something), they are kinda like timbits but they are so juicy and tasty, a definete guilty pleasure, and they go for $3 something for a dozen. You would be the man if you brought some back to your co-workers!

        2. For Hakka try China Cottage or Chopsticks.
          Both are great.

Tiffin Indian Restaurant is next to China Cottage and satisfies your criteria.
