Looking for romantic place for dinner in Tampa

I'm visiting Tampa in a couple of weeks and am planning a romantic evening out one night during my stay. I'm looking for someplace that serves good Italian or Thai food. I'd love it if the place has a nice relaxing atmosphere that two people can sit with some soft lighting, and enjoy a nice conversation, dinner, maybe a bit of dessert. Soft background music is a plus - loud music or parties would be a bit of a turn off. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can toss my way.

Cheers,

Tom

    All,

I want to thank you all so much for the advise so far. I'll be traveling to Tampa in a week so I'll be carefully considering your suggestions and I'll report back on the restaurant and evening when I get back.

    Cheers,

    Tom

Try Cafe Dufrain on Harbor Island and sit outside by the water...candlelight, soft music, water view and some great organic/local produce done in imaginative ways. Good wine list, too.

I would recommend Armani's at the top of the Grand Hyatt. It is Italian. They have a beautiful view and the food is good. Nice for a sunset dinner. I am pretty sure their menu is online.

Absolutely. And make sure you get there so you can catch the sunset.

I third this suggestion! Is this a special occasion? Because if it is, then you ought to let them know ahead of time. It was ages ago, but my husband told them it was our anniversary, and a card from the staff, lots of privacy, and a special dessert came our way. Very thoughtful.

If they still have it, get the antipasta, where you choose what you want from a gorgeous round showcase full of delights.

The antipasta is great, but the veal dishes there are spectacular. If you and your romantic interest want a yummy meal, split a make-your-own-antipasto plate and the Veal Osso Bucco, that should be more than enough food and it's delish. Also the stuffed jumbo rigatoni appetizer was great too.
