Dim Sum- But in a Honolulu Hotel

We went to an excellent dim sum lunch with a friend of ours who is a restauranteur at one of his favorite places. It's The Royal Garden Restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Ala Moana Hotel (adjacent to the Ala Moana shopping center) Busy (all Asians except us), good stuff esp. the pork buns, the tripe, the fried taro, and the mochi. Well worth a visit.

Thanks Bob for your suggestion. Somehow I missed the Royal Garden Restaurant--and at the Ala Moana Hotel where Bus #8 stops every ten minutes. We recently returned from Hono. after a month's vacation and we found that the old standby, Legends Seafood at 100 N. Beretania Street in Chinatown was outstanding. Lots of tourists and many Asians like ourselves, and we are discriminating as all get out about dim sum.
Will have to try out the RGR at our next trip.

yep, royal garden is an 'old standard' for hong kong style dim sum for about 20 years.
