Lux cocktail spot in San Diego - need a recommend

Upcoming business trip to San Diego and I need a recommend for a swank place for cocktails. It is a payback for a wonderful drink at the Ritz in Paris -- so that is the caliber we're dealing with here! :)

  1. I would go with either George's or Bertrand at Mister A's.

    1. Mister A's or La Valencia. Maybe Hotel Del. Downtown, maybe The Grant Hotel.

Those I think would be san diego's only answers to the Ritz in Paris. To make sure its even, buy them 2.

      1. Not as swanky as the previous mentions, but the view from the top of the Grand Hyatt is pretty spectacular. Might also check out a rooftop bar (if they have one) at the new Hilton near the convention center.

        1. I'd go with the U.S. Grant Hotel.

Second. The cocktails at the Lounge are pretty good.

          2. I'd recommend the Grant, Mr. A's or the Westgate. I'd avoid the Hotel Del - the bar atmosphere there is like Disneyworld, and the cocktails are not artisan-quality.

True, but from a historical and beauty standpoint, I think it worth considering.

Alice Q is right - it is like Disneyworld. I would only recommend drinks at the Del if you partake at the outside lounge/bar that opens before dinner at 1500 Ocean. Very SoCal relaxed, open atmosphere with wide open ocean view.

That is where I was thinking.

            2. I'll throw my pick for the US Grant into the mix - they make some of the better cocktails in the city.

              1. I think Noble Experiment should be considered.. Don't know if you would find the sort of gimmicky "speakeasy" theme to be too cheesy (I personally think it's fun, but I understand that it depends on the demographics of your group), but their cocktails are nothing to scoff at. Not one bit..
