Good places to linger for a late afternoon lunch?

mandmbklyn Jun 8, 2010 08:10 PM

I'm looking for some new places to try in central and south Austin where I can have a late lunch by myself and linger for a couple hours and get some work done (with a bar or tables where I can use my laptop--wifi not necessary.) Places that I've liked are Foodheads, South Congress Cafe, and House Pizzeria...can anyone think of other places that have great food, and where they don't mind having you linger from 2 to 4pm or so? Thanks!

Obviously not any place where you'd be waited on.

    Central Market

    Halcyon also serves lunch

Enoteca is a great place to have a late lunch and work on your laptop.

Frank's downtown would work. And you can have great coffee after you eat.

Habana on South Congress. Cuban style food and is almost empty from 2-5 pm. Very comfortable atmosphere.

Try Annies Cafe&Bar ( www.anniescafebar.com ) on congress. Even if it is not what you are looking for, you can never go wrong with great cocktails, perfect Italian sandwich. chowpapi ( http://chowpapi.com/?p=57 ) has more detailed information about the place.

gotta tell you, that review you posted is seriously dated! I understand Annie's has fired their entire kitchen staff since then!
