Raleigh: Southern Flavor OMG good!

My SO had heard about this place from a co-worker and we got take-out tonight. WOW!

They describe the food as Southern contemporary and traditional. They forgot to mention that the chef has a terrific feel for seasonings that takes traditional standards to a new level of deliciousness.

They are located in a strip center on Raleigh Blvd. that you probably wouldn't take a second look at. The shop used to house a sandwich place, but efforts have been made to gussy the place up.
You can eat in or take out for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, Sun. closes earlier at 6 pm.

We took home an order of oxtails with rice and 1 side and an order of a 4 piece fried chicken dinner with 2 sides. Wow! I gotta say it again, wow! This is seriously amazing food. The chicken is tied for the second best in over 50 years of fried chicken eating. Perfect light, crispy crust, interior piping hot and juicey. Seasoning left nothing wanting. Oxtails were tender, seasoned with a bit of a kick, but not "hot", fantastic gravey. Sides were terrific, mac n' cheese (baked yet moist), collard greens with a little tooth - didn't need any pepper vinegar and very good sweet potatoes (no marshmallow, just nice spice and brown sugar). We bought a dessert, but are too stuffed to try it so far!

Staff was very friendly, appreciative and professional. Those dining in seemed to be enjoying their meals too!

This is a fantastic alternative to Joyce and Family fans who are located to the north of Wake county. I no longer feel the need to drive to Fuquay-Varina with Sothern Flavors so close to home!

I hate to report that their door is locked and there is a sign advertising the business for sale.

Very sad, their food was really exceptional.

Why are they showing ribs from Shane's Rib Shack on the home page? Is it related to that chain, or did they just steal a photo?

I have no idea! "Steal" seems a bit harsh when we don't know the details...
The photo's are pretty varied in terms of styling and props. That combined with typo's on the site and different ones on the paper menu make me feel that it was not done by a pro.

All I know is the food was really great!

I looked at the website and didn't see anything about price, what is the cost?
