Please help me locate two olive oils in Manhattan....

erica Jun 8, 2010 02:02 PM

Wondering if anyone has a source for either, or both, of these olive oils:

Fonterutoli

Sitia

Eric Ripert chose them as two of the best oils in a tasting he did on his tv show; both appear to be used in the kitchen of his restaurant.

Check out O&Co. They are pretty much an olive oil store with olive oil 'sommoliers' working in the store and they have olive oils from all over the world, including Italy, Greece, Turkey etc. There's one on Bleecker Street and one in Grand Central Terminal. I like the Bleecker St store better.

I went to Eataly last week and was blown away by the oilve oil selection. I'm not familiar with Fonterutoli or Sitia olive oils but if Eataly doesn't have them I bet they would be pleased to order them for you and add them to their collection.

Thanks, but Sitiai is from Crete so I doubt that Eataly would stock it. I will ask them about Fonterutoli. Agree that their selection is a wonder--they are probably all very good. Probably better to hold off buying until they get the oils from the harvest just past..

Update on Sitia olive oil: It seems to be readily avaialable in the Greek markets in Astoria; I found it at both Titan and at Mediterranean Foods on Ditmars..

            Google is your friend:

Looks like it's reasonably priced too.

Actually a google search for Sitia on Manhattan did not immediately turn up any sources so thank you for the info. Now I need a lead on Fonterutoli...

Here's an online ordering site for the Fonterutoli.
